Gentaur IHC Epitope Retrieval System
Introducing the new 2026 version of the Gentaur IHC Epitope Retrieval System — an upgraded and more efficient platform for heat-induced epitope retrieval (HIER) in FFPE tissue slides.
The Gentaur IHC Epitope Retrieval System is designed to facilitate consistent, efficient antigen unmasking in formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissues. This device supports the widely adopted HIER (Heat-Induced Epitope Retrieval) protocol using a reliable and reproducible heat-based approach, critical for successful immunohistochemical staining.
Formaldehyde is the most commonly used tissue fixative in diagnostic pathology, but it masks antigenic sites, requiring an epitope retrieval step. While enzymatic methods like PIER (Proteolytic-Induced Epitope Retrieval) — using enzymes such as Proteinase K, Trypsin, or Pepsin — are available, they often degrade tissue structure and provide inconsistent results.
- Citrate Buffer (pH 6.0) : 10 mM Citrate, 0.05% Tween 20
- Tris-EDTA Buffer (pH 9.0) : 10 mM Tris, 1 mM EDTA, 0.05% Tween 20
- EDTA Buffer (pH 8.0) : 1 mM EDTA, 0.05% Tween 20
